This past week I finished the little bits and pieces of work
that had to be done on the Vodka Collins
(my Tokyo based band) re-issue.
The album is due to be on sale the last week of August.
It's a melange of three different albums,
a compilation of 15 tracks selected by the label.
This past thursday I had two fine singers
(Jan Tilley and Nikki Borodi) jump in on the backing vocals
of the Vodka Collins re-issue project.
Once again we recorded at Studio 900.
The singers were great, and very professional as always.
The overdubs we did added much to the track.
My warmest thanks to them for their contributions.

So, last week I was in the studio for three days,
wednesday through friday, and I got everything done
that I had planned to accomplish.
There were a few edits and little additions
that I did to the music.
No major changes to the songs.
Subtle things, and certainly nothing anyone will notice
without listening closely for the changes.
A tamborine here, a piano part there, all blended
into the tracks in a natural unobtrusive way.
I felt a few songs needed something to give the music
a little more flow, but also without messing around
with the feel of the original version too much.

Sadly, engineer Frank Garfi is leaving Studio 900
as of this monday.
He'll be working independently in the New York area
for the time being. He's been great on all these projects,
and has been an integral part of the team.

The Arrows re-issue is being planned by EMI,
and that's scheduled for an August 2nd release.
It will basically be the same as both
the Cherry Red and Repertoire re-issues,
but with a few unique surprises.

Then there's my most recent project,
and I am still agonizing over that.
There are still some complex issues
that need to be worked out before
I make a final decision on that project.
It would be great if all three recordings
could be released roughly at the same time.
I'm aiming for that.

All in all it's been a busy time,
and I'm not complaining one bit.
